This blog has been very quiet lately and since a few interesting things actually happened, I just had to update it.

The first thing is a project called P&J aka Pierre et Justin and can be seen as a duet of guitarists/producers. We made three tracks in February/March -Come on Jeremy!, Pas travailler and Yabon- which are already available at http://www.myspace.com/justinlepany and will soon be heard here. In short, it has been all about mixing music styles we like (many), playing all the guitars we own (not that many) and produce tracks we would be proud of.

We gave our best and do hope you will like this tracks.

François-Henri Houbart will perform a new piece of mine called “Pastorale” during the Christmas organ concert of the church of La Madeine in Paris. The concert is on the 25th and starts at 4 pm. I would be glad to see some familiar faces there…

Oh boy! My first guitar-oriented title in more than one year. It is one of a kind to me: no crossed influences, no mixed blood, just some pure straight rock with a strong 60’s feeling.  The song is called Midnight surf and can be listened to in the “Rock, jazz, etc.” section.

I have not published any new song in the “Rock, jazz,etc.” section since August 2007 but it does not mean that I nowadays only compose experimental music (a.k.a contemporary music or even contemporary western classical music, I guess we will never know). Despite its title and the fact that it is the sequel of the PodcastOpera, Die KiezOper was composed as a movie soundtrack with rock, jazz, bollywood, turbo-folk and hip-hop elements in it rather than classical music.

I therefore have posted an excerpt of it called “Am Kottbusser Tor” in the “Rock, jazz,etc.” section so you can hear what I mean. Feel free to visit www.KiezOper.de to watch the whole project.

My last work to date is a trio for clarinet, guitar and keys instrument called “L’imposteur” (The impostor) and the première will happen tonight at 10 p.m in the Gallerie Der Kunst within the frame of the “Magistrale 2008” in Berlin. The version performed tonight is a special arrangement for clarinet, guitar and live electronic.

Hello everybody,

it has been a few months since the last time I updated my blog and the moment has come to remedy the situation. The first thing is that I had to take it really easy because of a tendinitis and could hardly play the guitar. It didn’t stop me from composing music -“Musique florale et animale” was premièred in June and can be listened to in the section “experimental music”- and my hand allowed me to do a recording session for the soundtrack of the last picture of Tobias Wiemann in July.

Beside that, here is a great piece of news: the organist François-Henri Houbart has agreed to play a piece of mine at the Christmas concert of the church of La Madeleine in Paris.

In the future, I shall update my page more often…

The PodcastOpera has now a sequel which was premiered on the 19th of april in the FSK-Kino in Berlin. “Die Kreuzberger Kiezoper” is more of a movie soundtrack and has less to do with contemporary music but remains a piece of experimental music and mixes very different influences.

Like “Die PodcastOper”, “Die Kreuzberger Kiezoper” can be watched online and even be downloaded for free at www.kiezoper.de.

“L’épître fatidique” is a piece for organ and bass voices whose composition has been influenced by the principles of Ars Nova and the Book of James. The première will occur on the 20th of March at 8 p.m in tmp.deluxe where the piece can be heard as a sound installation until the 31th of March.
