After reading Gaspard de la Nuit by Aloysius Bertrand, I started composing a cycle of 5 pieces for carillons called Les Chants de Pierres (The songs of stone). It took several months and I never thought that the work would be played someday on a real carillion. Well, thanks to Jeffrey Bossin, it is going to be premiered this sunday at 3 p.m.

Marek Brandt and I will play a revised version of Le Dialogue des Sourds for guitar and computer this friday at 9 p.m in tmp.plate.
I will perform Les Chemins de Traverse on the 27th of March in Sowieso in Berlin and a new composition for electric guitar and laptop with Marek Brand (Laptop Orchester Berlin) on the 2nd of April in Potemka in Leipzig.
Christoph Enzel and Carl-Emmanuel Fisbach will perform together a new piece of mine called Le Malentendu as a conclusion to their respective solo perfomances of tonight in the BKA Theater in Berlin. The concert starts at 8:30 p.m and the recording of the performance will be available on my homepage within the next days.
I have been performing solo shows in clubs, bars and art galleries since September 2009. It is a set of improvisations for electric guitar entitled Les Chemins de Traverse which enables me to bring several aspects of my work as a composer and as a guitarist to the stage. A entire concert recorded a few weeks ago in tmp.plate can be listened to on the “concerts” page.
I have composed and produced the soundtrack for Andreas Gräfenstein’s documentary entitled Eisern vereint which is about the soccer club 1. FC Union Berlin whose faithful supporters spent a year repairing and restoring the team’s stadium by themselves. It is a nice story about 200 guys prepared to do anything to save their team and it was a great pleasure to compose a bunch of heavy tracks for the picture.
You can listen to one of them called Eiserne Hoffnung (Hope of steel) in the Soundtracks section.
I will play two concerts this week, both consisting of prepared improvisations for electric guitar.
The first one is a performance with the painter Juliane Ebner and occurs on the 10th of september within the frame of Ohrenstrand at the Hauptbahnhof Berlin. Further informations here.
The second one is a solo gig and takes place on the 12th of september at Ex n’ Pop. Further informations here.
Doing solo performances based on improvisations has long interested me and it might be the beginning of something.
This blog has been very quiet lately and since a few interesting things actually happened, I just had to update it.
The first thing is a project called P&J aka Pierre et Justin and can be seen as a duet of guitarists/producers. We made three tracks in February/March -Come on Jeremy!, Pas travailler and Yabon- which are already available at http://www.myspace.com/justinlepany and will soon be heard here. In short, it has been all about mixing music styles we like (many), playing all the guitars we own (not that many) and produce tracks we would be proud of.
We gave our best and do hope you will like this tracks.
François-Henri Houbart will perform a new piece of mine called “Pastorale” during the Christmas organ concert of the church of La Madeine in Paris. The concert is on the 25th and starts at 4 pm. I would be glad to see some familiar faces there…
Oh boy! My first guitar-oriented title in more than one year. It is one of a kind to me: no crossed influences, no mixed blood, just some pure straight rock with a strong 60’s feeling. The song is called Midnight surf and can be listened to in the “Rock, jazz, etc.” section.
