Ronith Mues (Konzerthausorchester Berlin) will play a harp recital this Monday within the frame of the festival Ankunft: Neue Musik in Hauptbahnhof Berlin. The program will include Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach’s Sonata in G major and 2 pieces of mine, one being “Agonies and Ecstasies of a young Soul” that she premièred in Rio de Janeiro last May, the other being a brand new composition entitled Arizona.
The Norwegian carillonneur Laura Marie Olseng will perform “Les Chants de Pierres” this Sunday at 4 pm at the Church of Soignies. It is already a rare thing as a living composer to see your works performed after the première but -since that one is for carillon, the biggest instrument ever- I feel very lucky. Thank you Laura Marie.
The première of “Agony and Ecstasies of a young Soul” occurred last week during the 8th Rio Harp Festival. Ronith Mues performed it twice there beside a few classics from the harp repertoire (Fantasie by Louis Spohr, Légende by Henriette Renié,…). I shall post the recording at the beginning of June.
After years of hesitation, I could not resist the spell of the harp any longer and am venturing into composing a solo piece for the instrument. The composition will be premièred by the mesmerizing Ronith Mues from the Konzerthausorchester Berlin in early May in Rio de Janeiro.
It has been a couple of months now but it is never too late to announce a piece of good news: Fritz Kalkbrenner’s new album Sick Travellin’ is out and my guitars are all over the place.
This is Jean Beers’ performance of Of Gas and Dust, recorded live during her piano recital in King’s College London in December 2012.
